July Happenings

Another year - another fabulous birthday breakfast outing with Sandra! It is the only time that I go to Village Inn & I must say - it doesn't suck! I don't think that I have ever been disappointed with my breakfast. After we stuffed our faces we went to IKEA. I needed to shop for dressers for Taylor & Rylee & we had success! I love that. I got to ride in a wheelchair....nice & not nice at the same time. I can't believe I had to ride in one before Sandra! We then headed back to Sandra's house & played a couple games of Sorry & Last Word. We managed to eat some more fabulous food too. It was a nice day!

My mother is OUT OF CONTROL! She has decided that every year for my dad's birthday we are going to have a Luau. It was fun! She made watermelon salsa, grilled pineapple & zucchini, salmon, yummy BBQ pork with chipotle mayo, and dirty drinks - with little umbrellas of course. All of the kids seem to enjoy being at Grammy's & Papa Don's for the evening. Except for Caleb. Shortly after dinner he got stung 7 times by wasps. It was so sad!! He said he was NEVER going outside again. But after 40 minutes or so, he came back out & wrestled with Griffen.

My mom had a hula hoop contest planned - the show down was between Ashley & Griffen & Griffen won! I've never been able to hula - I don't think my belly helped much. I'm going to start practicing for next year ASAP. Everyone also did the limbo. It was a fun night! Happy Birthday Dad!

A Platypus

Caleb has taken 4 weeks worth of swimming lessons this summer. He did AWESOME! He talked the teacher's ear off. He always had something to say. I hope that is a quality he never loses - that he is always able to say what is on his mind.
He loved to play on the stairs. He said he was pretending to be a platypus.

Casey & I took turns taking him to class & we both enjoyed watching him get braver each time!
The biggest problem that he had to conquer was relaxing while one his back & allowing his ears to go into the water. It really bothered him to have water in his ears, but he conquered that & passed his Level 1 swimming!
Since he has had ocean & water animals on the brain pretty much all summer he requested that we make jelly fish. Wish granted.

Weekend in Price

Casey's brother got married this weekend.  He married a very nice girl named Malissa from Price. They had a small ceremony with just family & a couple of really close friends.

We pulled up to the wedding site & Caleb said, "Is this the wedding?" I said, "Yes." In a very serious, angry voice he replied, "This isn't a wedding! This is the African Savannah!!" And boy....it was hot enough to be! Casey was Shelby's best man and walked with Malissa's sister. Caleb was quite concerned and turned to me & said, "IS DAD GETTING MARRIED TOO???"

After the wedding we had a luncheon. Tamara was so nice & made sure that Shelby & Malissa had a wedding cake. It was delicious!!! I even caught Taylor sticking her cute little fingers in it before it was cut. What a smart girl.

After the luncheon Casey & I had decided to stay an extra night in Price just for the heck of it. Casey & Caleb had a couple hours worth of swimming time while the girls & I took a nap. Caleb LOVED the pool. Casey is such a good sport & a fun dad. I was going to take the girls down - but I put them in the bathtub instead.

We went to dinner on Saturday night & then to a really neat park. The kids had a blast.

I want one of these awesome red swings in my size!! Caleb LOVED it. Casey kept pretending like Caleb was kicking him in the face & Caleb thought it was HILARIOUS. I don't know if I have ever heard the boy laugh so freaking hard.

Meow

We got a kitten!!! Poor Simba disappeared & Caleb kept looking at me with a HUGE frowny face and would say, "Now I don't even have a pet!" So....after A LOT of disagreeing - Casey came home with a kitten one day. His name was Panther...then Zombie (I liked Zombie)...and Caleb finally decided on Shadow. The kids were so excited!
Taylor loves the kitten. She always wants to hold it. She usually ends up holding it around it's neck and I make her put it down.
Rylee doesn't want to hold it as much - but she wants it to be a friend to play with.
She snuck it into the house one day so she could push it in her shopping cart. Adorable!
Caleb isn't fond of holding the kitten (that's why there isn't a picture). He doesn't want to get scratched. But he feeds & waters it every day & laughs at it when we play outside. It's a spunky little kitten. I hope he sticks around!

Happy Birthday Casey & Logan!

Casey & Logan had ANOTHER birthday! They just keep happening. We planned a brunch/water party at our house. I think it was a success. We got Casey a massage, some candy, a new bladder for his camelback and some organic wheat because he wants to grow wheat grass. Ew.
The girls loved the water balloons on the tramp.
Caleb fell in love with Tamara's cinnamon rolls. I may or may not have ate 3 by the time the day was over. They are divine.
I was so happy that all 5 little boys got along & played pretty well together.
The birthday boys.
That night we met Shelby, Malissa, Shayden & Tyson in Logan for the demolition derby. It was fun!
The weather was PERFECT. It was a raging storm in Brigham when we left & just sprinkled on us a little bit at the derby. I was so glad it wasn't a scorching hot summer night. We all had a good time. My mom baby sat Taylor & Rylee so that Casey & I could spend the night with just little Caleb.

Word

Oh Caleb. I don't know why - but he insists on telling me daily that he only likes my hair up in a pony tail. This morning I woke up & my hair was down & instead of, "Good morning mom" I get, "Hey! Can't you go put your hair in a pony tail?" Also - if Casey comes out in the mornings without his glasses Caleb will instruct him to put them on. I'm glad he's not picky!

Here are a few sentences that I've said the last few days that I can't believe are part of my daily life.
Eating dinner one night, "Taylor - don't touch Rylee's nipples." (Yes - we occasionally eat topless. Jealous?)

While getting ready for bath time, "Caleb - you shouldn't let your sister touch your weenie."

One that gets said quite often, "Caleb - get off of your sister!"

I hope I'm not being recorded. If I am I'm afraid a social worker is going to come & investigate soon!
