Cake, Dancing & Birds

Yesterday I had my niece Kaetlyn over so that we could make Shelby's (my brother-in-law, her uncle) birthday cake. We had quite a day! We both ate our fair share of cake batter & frosting, but the cake eventually got decorated. Kaetlyn did the bottom border & the balloon strings. I got to do the balloons & the white. We both went nuts on the confetti. What's a party without confetti & balloons?? I have to say that my cake recipe is killer, but my frosting needs some work. After we made the cake we did some DDR. I wonder if she's as sore as I am today. We have 3 dance mats so I thought, one for me, one for her & one for Caleb. Well - I would sit Caleb on his & he would turbo crawl over to our mats & he had to have one hand on each. He sat like that forever it was funny. We then went to celebrate Shelby's bday at Brad & Mona's. We had taco salad, wheat rolls & cake & ice cream. When I was feeding Caleb lunch today I noticed a flock of robins in our back yard. There was AT LEAST 20 of them. I had to take the pictures through the windows, so they aren't the best. They are probably wondering what happened to spring as much as I am!

Our car has been being weird for at least the past year. The heater wouldn't work unless you were going over 50. Needless to say - trips to the store this winter have been a bit on the nippy side. We FINALLY took it in to have it all fixed. Something with the transmission...the coolant was all gunky for some reason...and a couple new gaskets. $1000 later...ouch. Labor cost was more than half of the total amount! I'm going to push Caleb to be a mechanic. Good thing Casey is working shutdown at Nucor the next couple of weeks so that we can attempt to come out on top of this crappy money situation.

1st Haircut!

On Friday Casey & I went to get Caleb's first haircut :( It wasn't super long, but it was pretty straggly in places...before pic (watching Veggie Tales). Caleb had super cute curls in the back and I told Lucy (my friend who was cutting it) that I liked his curls & just wanted the rest cleaned up a little bit. Well - her first scissor swipe was his curls!! WHAT THE FREAK?!?! I guess I need to be a lot more specific next time. He was quite the wiggle worm, but we made it through. I've always wanted to go to a club. Like a really fun one in Salt Lake. When Casey & I were dating I would always say "Let's go to to a club & dance!" He would always say "No. People only go to clubs if they are single" Whatever Casey. Needless to say, we never went together. So - my friend MaLynda asked me to go with her & a bunch of her friends on Saturday night to go to dinner & go to a club & do some dancing. It was pretty fun...but no one in our 'group' really wanted to get out there & dance & I did. Maybe next time :)

It was FINALLY warm enough this week to put Caleb in some cute overall shorts! Glad that I got a picture because it's going to be cold all freaking week!!

On Sunday my brother Jordon was ordained an Elder. I missed the actual ordaining part (because I have a 1 year old & church hours are IMPOSSIBLE) but I was able to be there for the luncheon part. Yum. It's really weird to think that he is old enough to be an elder...possibly serve a mission...and to be going to college! What happened to the cute little fat mullet headed Jordon?? I love both of my brothers (& both my sisters...don't go freaking out) & it has been fun for me to see them grow into themselves.
Sunday night Casey & I went to our friends Kevin & Courtney's house to have some dinner & play games. I love games. Card games, board games, outside games...I just like DOING things. Kevin's sister came over with some of her family & we played a really fun card game that I can't remember the name of!! CRAP!! I want to buy it to, so I'll have to get the name of it. It was a good time!

Pedicures...Pizza...& Peeps

On Wednesday night, my sisters & my mom came over & we had a pedicure party. We at thin crust delite pizza from Papa Murphys (their pineapple is the BEST), some salad, some popcorn & some peeps. It was recently my nephews bday & my sister had some leftover frosting. Most of my family has a HUGE weakness for sugar. I'm not as bad as some of them...but it is good stuff. My mom got a spoon out when she noticed the Tupperware full of frosting....and then we had some bunny peeps...she said "Hmmmmm...wonder if frosting would be good on a peep." Ashley & I had no desire to try it, but my mom & Angela said it was delicious.

I dipped a piece of popcorn in the frosting...that was delish. I love salty & sweet stuff. We dipped our hands & feet in a FREAKING HOT paraffin wax and painted our piggies. It was a fun night. We also watched a little Hairspray. LOVE that show!

Caleb hates me. He likes Casey sooooooooo much more than me. It shouldn't tick me off, but it does. If Casey is around & I try to play with Caleb he'll just scream at me & cling to Casey. WTF? I know I'm way cooler than Casey, so what gives???

Pour some sugar on me

I won tickets on the radio last night to go see Posion & Def Leppard!! The concert isn't even until August. I can't believe that I freaking won! I was at work & the DJ said "Okay...I've been teasing you all night long, within the next 20 minutes, we'll give away those tickets" So...I listen...& listen...& listen...& listen....and hour & 10 minutes go by & I wondered how the heck could I have missed it! (I had even written the radio station name & number on a post it so that when I won & he said "Who is hookin you up" I wouldn't screw up their name. Tee hee) Then the DJ says "Oh crap! I forgot to give away those tickets...caller 9 wins" So I dial....it rings....he says "Caller 5 try again" So I hang up & hit redial...it rings...he says "97.5 the Blaze - who's this?" and the rest is history! I sounded so dumb on the radio. I had been rehearsing in my head what I would say & it came out so lame. I even think I muttered "Heck yes" Embarassing!

Caleb's diagnosis is a strep infection, and an ear infection. And then to make him even more miserable, I noticed yesterday that he has 2 teeth coming through on one side. So - that probably explains the ear infection. He is feeling MUCH better.

Scrapbooking

I've been attempting to get better at this digital scrapbooking stuff. It's so cute in my head...and then blech. I don't know what happens. It's like when you are playing pictionary...the unicorn looks just like one in your head, but it looks like a really weird animal with a sword through it's skull on the board. Sometimes ya just can't win. Here are my favorite pages that I did this weekend.Caleb is so sick! He's had a bad fever for about 24 hours. At one point today it was at 103.8 The little sicky breaks my heart. I hope I can get into a Dr first thing Monday morning. He has chilled on the couch for most of the day watching movies. He's watched Shrek twice, 1 Baby Einstein, & Cinderella (not his choice, mine) Needless to say - I'm sick of TV today.

On Friday night, Casey's mom came over to babysit so we could go on a date We had a coupon to Texas Roadhouse & have never been so we thought we'd go there. We got there right around 5 and the place was packed! There wasn't even a place to park! Aren't most people just getting off of work? Aren't we in a recession?? (just kidding) We ended up spending twice the amount of money we wanted to & went to Chili's. It was sooooooo good. If you haven't had their Chocolate Chip Paradise Pie - you are missing out. We then went & shot a couple of games of pool. I won...both games. Casey will say that I won by default because he scratched on the 8 ball both games & I still had at least 4 balls on the table...but a win is a win.
